Critical Mass is the main pro-bike event in the Orlando according to event's organizers, and takes place this Friday, November 27, 2009. It starts at Loch Haven park around 5:30-6:00pm. I'm going to try to describe the event, but be aware I've only seen it once. A huge gaggle of cyclists (looked like 40-50 people) ride through Orlando. The site of all those cyclists on roads normally swarming with cars, is shocking and wonderful. They end their ride at Stardust Coffee's parking lot (1842 E. Winter Park Rd) in Audubon Park (where many activities take place, including the fabulous Audubon Park Community Market take place).

A cyclist was killed at the corner of Church Street and Hughey in downtown Orlando November 23, 2009 at 9:30am, the same time performance artist Brian Feldman cancelled & postponed his pedestrian performance art piece, designed to bring attention to pedestrian deaths. Perhaps this will bring even more awareness to pedestrian safety. On November 9, 2009 Orlando was named worst city for pedestrian safety with over 1 million residents.
