There's a new monthly happy-hour called "Technically, We're Drinking" to help Orlando professionals utilize the latest industry standard practices of doing absolutely nothing. Leading Orlando experts may or may not be in attendance to fulfill absolutely no commitments to attendees. "Technically, We're Drinking" is purely an excuse for working professionals to get together, catch up, and consume mid-week appropriate amounts of alcohol, generally 2-5 glasses depending on where you work. All are welcome to this first Wednesday of every month tweetup. We have no sponsors, no event planners, no fancy name badges, no agenda, just a simple desire to mix some socialization with some inebriation. First Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm at Monkey Bar (26 Wall Street, Orlando, FL). Free admission, bring anyone you like. This is being put on by Anthony Richardson (@WebFugitive on twitter) and Adam Wiggall (@TurnAndFace on twitter). Use the HashTag #Odrink on twitter.
Downtown Orlando will have an ice skating rink in Lake Eola Park on the International Bridge next to the Farmer's Market location at the corner of Central Blvd. and Osceola Avenue. Tickets are $7 with a $3 skate rental.

The Daily City's most recent live event was the fifth incarnation of our monthly creative meetup called TheDailyCity.com MOOM on Friday, November 20, 2009, 8am-9am at Urban Think! Bookstore (625 East Central Boulevard, Orlando). United Arts, City of Orlando, Garden Theatre, two charities and several indie artists shared their current projects and needs and then helped each other with resources and ideas. Thank you to Jeff Wirth for leading the session, Amanda Chadwick for event production and Urban Think! for opening up early just for us. (Photo Credit: Amanda Chadwick)

You know I love me some Dave Ackerman marketing goodness. (See proof here and here). The Marketing Director at Fashion Square Mall is at it again with video from their Holiday Preview on November 13, 3009 and a promo for Black Friday.
I love this concept of free events to lure people in. I recently went to a free public viewing of an art installation by artist E.V. Day at New York City Opera. Free admission, free wine, great art and whaddya know... the opera's season brochures were everywhere. Who walked out with tickets to TWO operas? Free is the new marketing.
